AON
Heavy Duty Polyurethane resin Screed with Radial Coving
Project Description
Aon asked GSS Flooring to propose a specification for their new floor in their kitchens in the prestigious Leadenhall Building, London, to replace the vinyl floors which had become worn and spit in many places. A heavy-duty, 9mm polyurethane resin screed was specified and work began in May to remove all the old floor coverings and install a new drainage system.
Remaining adhesive and latex were mechanically removed with remote control diamond grinders and a new resin coving system was installed to all perimeter walls in every room.
The floor areas were then primed with Altro Resin’s, polyurethane primer, prior to the installation of Altro Crete, a heavy duty, chemical and slip resistant, polyurethane resin screed.
The resin coving was then seal with a coloured polyurethane seal coat to aid cleaning and all expansion joints were then cut back through the cured resin screed and filled with Altro expand, a two-part, flexible epoxy, to reduce the risk of future cracking. Expansion joints were also cut and installed around all the new drains to allow movement from thermal expansion and contraction.
This solvent and taint-free resin system is ideal for the food industry and most other areas requiring a fast curing, heavy-duty, slip and chemical resistant finish. It can be applied between 6-9mm thick and can be steam cleaned at the thicker depth.
