GSS complete phase two of the extensive floor refurbishment project at Guernsey’s leisure centre in St Peter’s Port, Guernsey.

Phase one was in 2019 in the main changing facilities. Phase two, the first floor changing facilities, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi area were planned for 2020 but were postponed due to Covid and travel restrictions but eventually took place in December 2021.

Firstly, the old vinyl floor was removed. Repairs were carried out to the substrate and two epoxy primer applications were applied. 100mm high resin coving was installed to all perimeter walls song a polyurethane resin screed. A 3mm, self-smoothing, flexible resin was then applied to the total area, finishing flush with the base of the resin cove. A further epoxy resin coating was then applied to the base layers and coving. Whilst this was wet, a multi-coloured, decorative flake was broadcast onto the wet resins. Once dry, excess flakes were removed, prior to two clear, epoxy seal coat applications to seal the entire system, ;having a very durable, slip-resistant and waterproof finish.
