GSS were contacted by BCC’s Dragon’s Den Investor, Touker Suleyman to specify and install a new resin floor for his new flagship cycle store in London’s Westfield Shopping Centre.
It had to be a very smooth, yet slip-resistant and durable finish, suitable for constant and heavy use.
The existing substrate was 150mm lower than the main entrance, so a new gradual ramp was formed using a high-strength, epoxy screed prior to substrate preparation, resin priming and the installation of a 4mm, self-smoothing polyurethane screed.
This was then sealed with two coats of a matte, coloured resin seal coat to aid cleaning and future maintenance of the floor. Expansion joints were cut back through the cured resins and filled with flexible polysulphide resins.
